A Philadelphia native, Paris Alexander Nesbitt is a classically-trained singer, actor, and dancer. With his powerful tenor, Nesbitt has explored the depths of the classical canon, from the titular role in Candide to Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus, and showcases his versatility in musical theater roles in Golden Age classics and contemporary blockbusters.
Music has played a central role in Nesbitt’s life from a young age. His earliest memories include trips to Tower Records on the Avenue of the Arts to read Opera News and listen to Plácido Domingo on vinyl.
As a teenager, he began his formal music education, studying voice and piano at the Settlement Music School and the Tanglewood Institute. He went on to earn dual degrees from Penn State University, a BMA in vocal performance and a BA in African American studies, and was named a semifinalist in the prestigious Lotte Lenya Competition before relocating to New York City.
Notably, Paris Alexander Nesbitt premiered the lead role of Isaac Mason in "Isaac: A Musical Journey," by Marlon Saunders, at the illustrious Kennedy Center. This significant achievement adds another layer to Nesbitt's already impressive repertoire, showcasing his ability to breathe life into diverse roles.
His journey has taken him to Broadway and on tour with The Book of Mormon, and a trail of memorable performances in regional productions such as Hairspray, How to Succeed…, and Curtains. Nesbitt's approach to each role is marked by intellect, sophistication, and a quiet, calm command, reflecting his commitment not only to the art of character creation but also to leveraging the power of live performance to inspire a greater understanding of ourselves and each other.
